Welcome to the first post on our blog!
Here we will post different posts in the categories you see on the left. This can be anything from how to use specific equipment, information about the different brands and products we offer and how they work, and so on. We will not only focus on equipment, but also a more comprehensive look at trotting and horse riding in general. In addition, we would like to "invite" you into the office to show you what we are working on - for example how the process of making new products takes place. There is a lot of new and exciting coming, so recommend to follow.
Since this is our first post, we thought about telling a little about Finntack's story and some of the people working here. I can start with myself who will write many of the posts and have the main responsibility for the blog. My name is Lena Pettersen, I am almost 28 years old and come from Vesterålen in Nordland. I have a masters degree in text and communication from the University of Oslo and started working at Finntack in January 2020. I have been doing trotting horses on a hobby basis since I was 12, follow a lot on the sport, and co-own two young horses. Our history
Let´s go back to the roots where things began. Finntack was started in 1982 by Mr. Gunnar, a young Norwegian who had moved to Finland as an IT graduate. Jobs were hard to find in those days, but finally Mr Gunnar started work at a big player in the horse racing industry, producing horseshoes. This move later inspired Mr Gunnar to start up his own business, producing racing equipment for export to Norway. Suddenly Finntack was born!
Competing with the Finnish giant was not easy matter – at least not in the beginning. Long hard days, cold winter nights, and sales at race days with little success were not uncommon then. Yet it was precisely at this point that Finntack´s maxim was born: “Never - ever - give up!” Since then this motto has formed Finntack’s backbone – a near 40-year story, from a one-man show to a global market leader!
Finally, having borne the brunt through many years, in 2008 Mr. Gunnar decided to step down as CEO and let new, younger talent carry on the baton. This happened to be when global e-commerce was conquering Europe. Finntack was one of the first in the equestrian business with this new trading form.
In 2019 Finntack’s management team, consisting of its CEO, Johannes Nevanlinna and Marketing Director, Denis Marques, acquired and invested in Finntack Ltd. Both of them have worked over ten years in the Finntack group. When German investors wanted to buy Horze, which was part of Finntack, there was no doubt when they had the chance to take over Finntack. As longtime friends and colleagues, they have now come together to continue and develop Finntack's success story.

For Johannes and Denis, there was no doubt when they had the chance to take over Finntack. As long-time friends and colleagues, they have now joined forces to continue and develop Finntack's success story.
Our Ambassadors
Finntack has many trade ambassadors, including Franck Nivard, Bjørn Goop, Team Bullern, Pekka Korppi (to mention just a few), all well known for their successes. In addition, we have a whole team of up-and-coming young drivers & trainers. We are proud to collaborate with these strong, winning teams and want to thank them all for their support. Feedback and suggestions through product testing carried out by our ambassadors help us make our products even better.
Our horses
Finntack are both owners and breeders of trotting horses. We have two breeders, Quatro G.T and Crystal B.R. The former has a yearling stallion by Support Justice, and the latter a yearling stallion by Bold Eagle. Finntack owns both yearlings, and both brood mares are expecting foals this spring. In addition, we have a three-year-old mare, Bokoloko F.T (by Yarrah Boko) who will make her racing debut this year. It will be very exciting! Our horses are housed at Torgeir and Anita Hagmann in Norway. We will post updates here on the blog about how the FT horses are doing.
