September is when the Derby winners will be decided! This weekend Finland and Sweden will have their turn to proclaim their winners, and next weekend will be Norway's. Owners, breeders, and trainers surely are feeling a few extra butterflies in their stomachs these days. Almost everyone who invests in a yearling has dreams of a horse in the Derby final. It will be exciting to see who will come through as the winners, but we want to congratulate everyone who has a finalist in one of the class races. Norway's Kriterium and Derby will be held next Saturday and Sunday, but the fun will already be starting on Tuesday 08 September, when you'll have the chance to bid on a new young horse at the class race auction. # 110 Eagle F.T.
This straight and long-legged colt is by French super stallion Bold Eagle, who already has several finalists in the class races in both Sweden and Norway. In Sweden, Aetos Kronos (5.4 million) and Champ Lane qualified for the final in the Derby open class, while Dontlooseallmoney will be competing in the jumping division. In Norway, Failern is competing in the Derby, High Flyer in the Kriterium and Global Bred To Win in the Jumping Kriterium. That's more than enough to win approval for a breeding stallion as new to the game as Bold Eagle.
Eagle's dam, Cristal B.R. (by Andover Hall), earned nearly 400,000 NOK and produced Sørlandet in 2015! Her fine pedigree includes breeding matador Andover Hall as sire, and she is the sister of millionaire Da Vinci B.R. Niesen Isabel B.R is a finalist in the 2020 Derby for mares. Further back in the dam line are top earners like Running Sea (7.2 million) and Fox Valley Diva ($423,800).
Eagle F.T was born in France and was with other horses his age at Tommy and Edina Ydersbond's farm from November 2019 until July 2020. His X-rays are fine and he's had regular farrier visits and deworming treatments.
# 54 Justice League F.T.
A nice, good-sized filly with an elastic trot. She's the only horse at this year's auction sired by Support Justice, whose first crop was born in 2018; Amazing Justice recently gave a perfect race for Geir Vegard Gundersen. We believe that Support Justice will deliver as a breeding stallion, and if his offspring inherit some of his crazy talent for winning, their futures will be exciting!
Her dam, Quatro G.T., is a proven broodmare for fine mares like Starfish and Coffee, who earned 700,000 NOK and has a record of 11.2 in 1600 m. Quatro G.T. is the sister of the top-earner Investor G.T., and further back in this dam line one finds Shaq Is Back (4.7 million), as well as many American horses that have brought in several million NOK.
